Basic studies
In winter 2000 I started studying informatics at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität in Magdeburg. After two semestres of studies I realized that the technical components in informatics had a much too high weight for me. So I changed during the third semestre to business informatics.
I "recycled" many things from my basic studies for business informatics but I had to recover the complete part of business science. This led to two very packed semestres with much work.
After my - now - fourth semestre I successfully finished my basic studies with the german Vordiplom and continued with my main studies.

The students are free of choice in these three parts and so can individualize their main studies very much.
bullet points for me
While choosing my courses I thought of what I wanted to do later in my worklife and chose courses that could be relevant for this. In the informatics part I chose almost every option available for database managment. The part business informatics I covered with different courses regarding project management (eg. process modelling, management informations systems or project management). To cover the business science I joined available courses in Management and Organisation.
Apprenticeship
In my seventh semestre I did an apprenticeship at the Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg. In these seven month I developed intranet-applications for the department I was working for. These applications included a document management system, some project management tools and a process monitoring application. For finishing this apprenticeship I had to write a thesis which was the last step to successfull gain my first academic grad: the bachelor of science.
